The kiosk is a web page for a tablet at your entrance. Clients check themselves in; nobody at the front desk has to type anything.
Open the kiosk on a tablet#
- Find your kiosk address under AppsWalk-in queue and kioskMy link. It is your shop's
barberly.storeaddress. - Open it in the tablet's browser, Safari on iPad or Chrome on Android.
- Add it to the home screen. It then opens full screen, as an app called "Barberly Walk-in Queue" with the Barberly icon.
- On the staff setup page, choose the location and the screen this tablet shows: check-in to the queue or check-in with a time. See Settings for hiding screens you do not use.
A simple stand is enough. Place the tablet where clients find it as they walk in.
The check-in, step by step#
- Start. The headline, a big start button, the clock and live numbers: how many are in the queue, the estimated wait and how many of the team are working. The timed kiosk shows the next free time instead.
- Services. Category tabs when you use categories; no tabs without them. Add-ons appear under the service they belong to. A service used as an add-on is not offered again on its own. A summary shows what is selected.
- Barber. "First available" or a named barber. Barbers who cannot do the chosen services today are greyed out. On the timed kiosk each barber shows their next available time. You can switch this step off; every client then goes to the first available barber.
- Time, on the timed kiosk only. Today's free slots for the chosen barber and services.
- Contact details. Either a simple form or recognising returning clients, see below.
- Confirmation. The number (queue) or the time (timed), how many are ahead and the estimated wait, and a QR code that opens the client's ticket. The screen returns to the start after a time you set, 45 seconds by default.
Contact details#
Two modes, chosen under AppsWalk-in queue and kioskCheck-in flow:
- Simple form. First name, mobile and email. Mobile and email are each required, optional or hidden. Hide both and the client leaves only a first name.
- Recognise returning clients. The client types their mobile number first. Matching clients from your base appear as they type, showing the name and a masked number. The client picks themself and the details fill in, so no duplicate client records are created. A known client without an email or phone on file gets it added from the check-in.
Good to know#
- The kiosk's header shows the location's photo, or its initials when it has none.
- With several locations, the tablet is set to one location once; staff can change it on the setup page.
- Times follow your shop's clock setting, 12-hour or 24-hour.
- The kiosk speaks 20 languages. You pick the language in the settings; all fixed phrases follow it.
- There are no payments on the kiosk. Checkout stays in the Barberly app.
- The kiosk needs internet.
