Payments FAQ

Short answers about providers, terminals, fees and payment policies.

Which payment providers can I use?#

Stripe, Square, Revolut and SumUp. The shop connects one of them; team members can connect their own.

Does Barberly take a commission on payments?#

No. You pay only your provider's own transaction fees.

Do I need a terminal for payments at the desk?#

No. A terminal is optional: Stripe Terminal (WisePOS E), Square Terminal and Revolut terminals work with Barberly. Cash and card payments taken outside Barberly can be recorded by hand.

Which payment policy should I choose?#

It depends on how you work. Deposits are often used for long appointments; saved cards make no-show and late cancellation fees possible. See Payment policies.

I am switching providers. Do saved cards move?#

No. Saved cards are stored by the payment provider, so clients add their card again after the switch.

My terminal does not pair. What can I check?#

  • The network allows outbound connections to the provider
  • The terminal is updated and signed in
  • Generate a new pairing code and try again

The steps for each terminal are in the Stripe and Square guides.
